Oncourology
Such news undoubtedly causes distress — if not physical, then certainly emotional. But stop! Don’t let panic take over. A cancer diagnosis is by no means the end of the road. At Dilanyan Clinic, we know how to help and will find the best solution to even the most serious problem!
Oncological urology is a complex and advanced branch of medicine that studies tumors of the genitourinary system: the kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder, ureters, urethra, as well as male reproductive organs (prostate, testicles, and penis).
To be a specialist in this field, one must thoroughly study not only oncology and urology, but also reconstructive surgery — and to some extent, gynecology as well.
The onset and early stages of cancer often go unnoticed, which is why the diagnosis can feel like a devastating shock. Cancer always begins with subtle signs — ones that can easily be overlooked or dismissed by you.
How experienced are the doctors at Dilanyan Clinic?
The oncological urologists at our clinic, including its founder Oganes Eduardovich Dilanyan, are top-tier specialists with vast experience and a still compassionate heart.
These doctors hold the highest professional qualifications and possess various academic degrees. A physician’s involvement in scientific research provides the closest access to the latest technologies, equipment, and up-to-date clinical guidelines.
Whatever oncological diagnosis you receive, know this: you are not fighting cancer alone. We have assembled a team of specialists who are not only capable of curing but also willing to support the patient throughout their illness.
What do we treat?
Kidney cancer – a malignant tumor requiring immediate active treatment.
Adrenal gland cancer – a rare tumor that requires a multidisciplinary decision involving an oncological urologist, surgeon, and endocrinologist.
Ureteral cancer – a rather rare tumor. Because the ureter has a thin wall, the disease progresses quickly and extends beyond the organ.
Bladder cancer – one of the most common diagnoses in oncological urology. Men suffer from it three times more often than women. More than half of bladder cancer patients are smokers. Notice the connection?
Prostate cancer – a very insidious diagnosis. The disease does not manifest while the tumor is confined within the prostate. However, it can be suspected by a single test: the blood PSA analysis.
Urethral cancer – a fairly rare pathology that, unlike other urinary system tumors, occurs more often in women.
Testicular cancer – most often affects young men but responds well to treatment if diagnosed early.
Penile cancer – treatment for patients with this diagnosis is always aimed not only at curing but also at preserving this valuable and important organ.
How does a consultation with an oncologist-urologist go, and will the doctor give a verdict immediately?
At the appointment, the uro-oncologist will have a detailed conversation with you, conduct an examination, and will definitely clarify whether there is any family history of cancer among close relatives.
If there is a suspicion, a series of tests and examinations will be performed to confirm or rule out the diagnosis as quickly as possible.
Dr. Dilanyan’s Clinic is equipped with high-class expert diagnostic equipment.
- General biochemical blood and urine tests;
- Blood tests for detecting specific tumor markers for certain types of cancer — some of these should be done regularly after age 45;
- Ultrasound of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate — immediately shows changes in organ shape and formations as small as 3–5 mm;
- CT or MRI — detailed images used to build a 3D model and determine the presence and extent of the cancer process and involvement of surrounding organs;
- Cystoscopy and fibro-cystoscopy — examination of the mucous membranes of the bladder and urethra;
- Taking a biopsy of the suspicious lesion by contact, endoscopic, or puncture method — the tissue is examined under a microscope, which allows precise determination of the tumor type and degree of malignancy.
Which surgeries do we perform:
After radical tumor removal, especially if the disease has progressed extensively and affected surrounding tissues, strictures of the urinary tract may develop, or an organ or part of it may be missing.
The goal of reconstruction is to restore functionality and achieve the best possible aesthetic result in recovering the lost anatomy.
Here, cutting-edge technologies come into play, and surgery moves beyond medicine into the realm of art. The skilled hands of the operating surgeon can expertly create a new bladder from a section of the intestine, reconstruct the urethra using oral mucosal tissue, restore the ureter, and return the joy of sexual life to those who thought it was lost forever.
Second Opinion Service
You already have your own doctor, but the diagnosis scared you and you find it hard to believe? Are you unsure about the necessity of the upcoming surgery? You can turn to our clinic for a second opinion — a consultation with independent specialists to evaluate your previous diagnosis and prescribed treatment.
We will analyze the problem, conduct a comparative review of treatment methods, and determine the appropriateness of surgical intervention along with possible alternatives.
We work even with rare oncological diseases and, if necessary, will verify the accuracy of histological examinations and the correct interpretation of ultrasound, MRI, and CT scans. In complex cases, we will convene a multidisciplinary expert panel.
